2 Days in Bruges: Chocolate & Canals
Bruges is stunningly well-preserved. Yes, it's touristy, but when you're drinking a strong Belgian beer next to a 15th-century canal, you won't care. Two days is exactly enough time to slow down, eat chocolate, and explore before it feels too small.
Day-by-Day Snapshot
The Medieval Core
Markt Square, climb the Belfry, and take a canal boat tour.
Beer & Beguines
The Beguinage, Halve Maan Brewery tour, and chocolate shopping.
- •Visiting only as a day trip (it's much better when the tour buses leave at 5 PM).
- •Wearing heels on the aggressive cobblestones.
- •Buying chocolate in the first shop you see on the main square.
- •Ordering an industrial beer instead of a local Trappist ale.
September or December (for the Christmas market).
De Garre, a hidden pub down a tiny alley with a very strong house beer.
- Markt: Right in the center, but noisy.
- Minnewater: Near the 'Lake of Love', quieter and romantic.
Getting Around

Where to Eat
Frites from the carts on the Markt square. Ribs at Ribs 'n Beer. Buy chocolate at The Chocolate Line or Dumon.
